This is Dushanko-Dobek’s work, “Earth Shield I." This was her first significant fiber sculpture designed as both a tribute to the natural world as well as a comment on honoring and preserving natural environments. Noteworthy is that until the 1980s, most works in fiber were considered craft not art.
