Sara Cushing was a Washington, DC-based artist who exhibited work across the US and abroad. A lifelong learner, Sara studied art at the Atlanta School of Art, Parsons, and the Corcoran School, developing a practice that included handmade paper, artists’ books, photographs, and animated films. In 1983, Sara was awarded a residency at WSW to produce her artist’s book Interlude, and in 1993, she returned to print Talismans. As an educator, Sara taught art at Mount Vernon College, the Corcoran School of Art, Marymount College, and Georgetown University.
