Woman Made Gallery Founded
Woman Made Gallery (WMG) was founded in 1992 by two art students, Beate Minkovski and Kelly Hensen. Originally conceived as a senior project at Northeastern Illinois University, they created the space out of frustration over the lack of gallery venues willing to showcase their feminist artwork.Over the years, the Chicago-based space evolved into a prominent 501©(3) nonprofit. Today, WMG operates in the University Village neighborhood and focuses on promoting the work of women and nonbinary artists.
