The Pop-Up Memory Lab was an example of how the archive is activated through participatory public programming. Not only were participants given the opportunity to digitize their materials, but they were also given the information and tools to continue their personal digital archiving projects outside of the memory lab. We held forty-four appointments, digitized 650+ materials (and eleven different types of media) held three workshops with one-hundred and sixty-three tickets reserved, and began six capsule collections. Overall, the Pop-Up Memory Lab was an exciting first step in TFI’s efforts to demystify archives and activate the archive through community building.
